UCR's Organizational Excellence movement prompted the Housing, Dining & Hospitality Services set a mission to be of the highest quality – Empowering People and Managing Resources to Improve Processes that Execute Memorable Guest Service. With four areas to focus on – People, Resources, Processes, and Guest Service – team members across Dining Services joined collaborative workgroups to improve our department.

  • Improve, streamline, and standardize our on-boarding process for new employees
  • Map out new employees' first six months of training with competency milestones


  • Make food more affordable
  • Become better stewards of university resources


  • Streamline processes to make our department more efficient
  • Create a department-wide safety program for all employees across different units

Guest Service

  • Standardize a customer service initiative to ensure consistency across all units
  • Better serve our guests by enhancing their experience in a UCR dining venue
